Tigers ready for important weekend visits - Ziemba headlines incoming visitors
AUBURN, Ala. -- This past weekend proved to be quiet on
the Plains with no recruits in town, but things will get rolling
this weekend with Auburn's biggest planned recruiting weekend.
The Tigers already have 20 commitments, headed by quarterback
Kodi Burns of Fort Smith, Ark., and running back Enrique Davis
of Lynn Haven, Fla. The Tigers still have five or six scholarships
available, and one of their top targets will be in town this
weekend -- Lee Ziemba.
Ziemba, a 6-foot-7, 295-pounder from Rogers (Ark.) High,
is considered one of the top offensive linemen in the country.
He's a four-star recruit and will headline a group of 14 official
visitors.
One thing is certain: He'll hear how great Auburn is from
a number of current Auburn commitments, including tight end
Bailey Woods, who has been extremely vocal during unofficial
visits to Auburn.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. Signing day is Feb. 7.
Slated to make their official visits to Auburn this week
are commitments Quindarius Carr (wide receiver), Davis, A.J.
Green (defensive end), Tim Lamb (defensive tackle), Chaz Ramsey
(offensive lineman), Mike Slade (defensive back), Ryan Williams
(defensive back) and Woods.
Others expected this weekend include: Luther Davis, a four-star
defensive tackle from West Monroe (La.) High; Nick Fairley,
a three-star offensive lineman from Mobile; Jerry Howard,
a four-star defensive end from Orlando who has committed to
Florida; Michael McNeil, a four-star defensive back from Mobile;
Jabaal Sheard, a three-star defensive end from Hollywood,
Fla.; and Ziemba.
Look for Tiger coaches to give the hard sell to Ziemba, who
could be favoring his homestate Razorbacks despite Burns being
a good friend who is headed for Auburn. Luther Davis was expected
to make his college choice on Saturday between LSU and Oklahoma
and could cancel his visit to Auburn.
There are several other players Auburn will continue to recruit
who could show up on the Plains in the next few weeks. There
are also several players Auburn is still recruiting who have
already taken their official visits to Auburn last year, but
still have Auburn in the running.
